More on Burn Center
Burn Center
The Spectrum Health Regional Burn Center provides the most advanced treatment options for all levels of burn care—from intensive care to inpatient rehabilitation and outpatient care. The Regional Burn Center focuses on returning patients to their highest level of functioning and addresses the physical, psychological, social and vocational aspects of their lives.
To meet this goal, we use a team approach, applying the expertise of various specialties to the many, interrelated problems associated with burn injuries.
Referrals
Referrals are made to the Regional Burn Center on both an outpatient and inpatient basis. Patients who do not require inpatient care will be seen in our outpatient clinic, where prompt and specialized burn care is provided by the same staff. Patients can either be referred by physicians or can self-refer.

A Caring History
In 1979, we began providing burn care for West Michigan at Blodgett Hospital after two years of community fundraising spearheaded by the Grand Rapids Jaycees. Over $525,000 was raised by local businesses, special interest groups and organizations.
Clinical Team
The burn team consists of physicians, nurses, therapists, nutritionists, pharmacists, social workers and pastoral care staff who meet on a weekly basis to discuss patient care and planning. This provides a chance to develop strategies for the patients' care and also allows family members to be involved in the plan for their loved ones' care. Patients and their families can expect to receive exceptional care throughout the entire recovery process.
